Jameson is headquartered in Clover, South Carolina.
Over fifty years ago, James C. Crates
and Walter G. Pearson began a partnership as manufacturers'
representatives calling on the REA (Rural Electric Authority),
telephone and power utilities in the Carolinas and Virginia.
In a short period of time, and with an
entrepreneurial spirit, the partners began developing ideas
from the needs of linemen and technicians in the field.
With thousands of miles of pressurized
cable across America, the major telephone systems were encountering
great problems locating leaks in pressurized aerial telephone
cable.
Crates and Pearson developed a roll spray
leak-detecting unit to pull across the cable span and spray
a liquid that bubbled when a leak was encountered. Traditional
wooden poles were not strong enough to lift the spray unit
to the strand and thus Jameson worked to develop the first
ever fiberglass lay-up stick in 1956.
Since that time, we have been a leader
in developing safe, dependable, and innovative products for
the Telecommunications, CATV, Power Utility, Tree Care and
Military markets. Today, we provide a comprehensive array
of tools - everything you need to get the job done safely
and efficiently.
While much has changed in fifty years,
some things have not - our commitment to quality, safety,
value and service. We understand the needs of the customer
always come first. It's a philosophy that has served us, and
the people we make products for, very well.
From those early days in the mid-1950's,
Jameson has grown from a 14'x14' basement room in downtown
Charlotte, North Carolina to our current corporate headquarters
located in Clover, South Carolina in a 50,000 square foot
state-of-the-art manufacturing facility. |
